So here goes, I am going to do a quick run down of android's lollipop from a blindness perspective. Note your milage may very from device to device. 1. when you pick up your new shiny device one thing will stand out at you, the lock screen has taken on a new look. Notifications are no longer pushed in the background!. IOS users will notice some similarities when looking at lollipops' lock screen. Your text, FaceBook, Skype and more are up front and senter. So what is different from Lollipop then IOS? In Lollipop you control what is allow to access your screen and what apps can post to your lock screen. In IOS you can turn off certain notifications but Lollipop gives you greater control of your lock screen. You can go so far as to shut everyone and every app out except what you want to see. On the bottom of your lock screen is phone messages and unlock. Now lets jurney to accessibility because lollipop has been covered by INC Gagit and more. Talkback's web scripts are truly fixed, I can run through CNN buy reading paragraph, sentince, headings, links and more. In kitCat it was a hit and miss. personally I sometimes wanted to kill the web scripts when it locked up my device. Now lets talk about how jesters are handled in Lollipop. Jesters on my nexus6 are so easily red, executed and make using android very in joyable. The web scripts are as buttery smooth as the IPhones web views. 'Don't believe me go try a nexus6 or nexus7 second Gen your
self. Now lets cover braille, finally!! android gets it right. When I lock my screen it disconnects When the phone wakes up it just connects to my human brailliant display. On the last device "galaxy Note III" it would connect on wake up but ask me every time if I wanted to allow the display to pare with the device. There is Also switch controls,. enverting colors and magnification built in to Lollipop. Well I hope you find this Informing hopely one of my readers tries lollipop. to IOS users, Great platform but Lollipop just put a nale in the coffen fore me as far as IOS being my main platform. Second dary maybe but Android will be my main platform for the fore seeable future.
lollipop . Next up? Cheesecake.
Good quick review on accessibility with Androy L. But i'm not sure if i agree with the Braille. My experience is kind of hit and missed, and i know there are people experience have totally different experience than what you written...
Kitcat did not like my humanware brailliant display, between the LG nexus5 and Samsung Galaxy note III I just said screw braille. The note III asked me if I wanted to allow the display to connect and the nexus5 just dropped the connection and never bothered to reconnect on wake-up. my device is one of the newer ones "nexus6" from Motorola and Google so its probly why I am seeing the results on my side. I wont argue brailleback needs to be executed, coupled into talkback so they are both updated.
My hope for Android, is that soon Google decides to make it same across the devices. When they do this, the accessibility will improve.
